Melanie's First Zentangle!

Melanie!  We all know she's an amazing woman!  Last night Sherry Woolgar introduced Melanie to Zentangles.  Well, after the meeting Mel went home, googled it and here's what she's created!  Many of us agree that she needs to teach this to the group in the coming year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Is learning an alphabet on your wish-list of things to do this new year?

Happy new year everyone!!

This 6 week course will run on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 pm
Feb 3 – March 10, 2010
at High River United Church, 123 Macleod Trail, High River, AB
Cost for the 6 nights of instruction $55.

The Uncial Alphabet is a beautiful, open and round, historical alphabet as used in The Book of Kells.  It is sometimes called the early Christian alphabet as it was used in much of the early Holy writings. It is a majuscule alphabet, so is quickly learned by the more advanced calligrapher but not too difficult for beginners.

The Legend Alphabet is a typeface designed by Ernst Schneidler.  It is easily adapted to pen for calligraphers.  This alphabet has a near Near Eastern appearance and is designed to be written rapidly.  It is characterized by it’s lengthy ascenders and descenders on letters such as: bdfgjhklpqy..

Have a Look at this site, recommended by Sherry!

Some of us were discussing exciting creative exercises that one could pursue.  Well, the art of creative doodling may be something you would like to try out.

Sherry has sent this link for us to enjoy.  It's called, "Beez In The Belfry".  This artist was recently featured in the CLOTH PAPER SCISSORS magazine.  Have a look!

Thanks Sherry!

Putting pen to paper and wishes into action...

A New Year, a new beginning.  I love this time of year.  Fresh starts.  A list of things that one wishes to explore.  A time to continue the journey of learning!  Welcome fellow travelers on this journey of creativity.

A few of us met this evening to discuss/brainstorm about what activities we might plan for this coming year at HRUC.

Ideas were plentiful and enthusiasm contagious!

It's going to be a very, VERY exciting year, and you won't want to miss a thing!
